Course Title: Safety Rep Training
Introduction
Under the provisions of the Safety, Heath and Welfare at Work Act 2005 employers have a responsibility to make provision for consultation with employees and employees are entitled to select at least one individual as a Safety Representative to make representation to management with regard to Health and Safety in the workplace.
This 3-day programme is designed to outline the role and function of the Safety Representative. The course content conforms to the guidance set by the Health and Safety Authority and provides a very comprehensive foundation to Health and Safety.
Safety Representatives play a very important part in the consultation process of health and safety in any workplace.

- Legislation relating to Health & Safety
- Role and functions of the Safety Representative
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment
- Safety Management Systems and Safety Statement
- Active Monitoring and Reactive Monitoring
- Communication skills
- Common workplace hazards
- Accident Investigating
- Action Planning
On successful completion of this course delegates will be able to:
- List the obligations of both employer and employee in relation to Health and Safety within their workplace.
- Understand the Role and Function of the Safety Representative
- Identify and be able to utilise the consultative process within the company
- Describe the role of the Health and Safety Authority
- Identify hazards and assess the risks associated with common workplace hazards
- Assist with investigating accidents and recommend preventative measures
- Understand the collective responsibility for safety management.
